The Indigenous Accountants Australia (IAA) Initiative has a robust governance structure which aims to monitor the implementation of the University Engagement.
This structure incorporates various levels of governance with representation from the two accounting bodies being CPA Australia and the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. The governance levels include organisational Boards, IAA Steering Committee and IAA Working Group.
It involves four streams of work including relationship management, marketing, communications and government relationships which work collaboratively to progress the achievement of the initiative outcomes.
An important element of this structure is the Advisory Committee which provides input and advice on the strategy being developed and implemented by the team.
This Committee creates strong links to the Indigenous community with more than 50 per cent of members “self-identifying” as proud Indigenous Australians. They provide valuable insights from the Indigenous community, business, academia and the accounting profession.
