Supporting our future business leaders

We recently facilitated a networking evening for Indigenous business students, grads, professionals and employers. Hear what attendees got out of it, and why these events are so valuable.

Accounting in the big smoke

When NRL player George Rose isn’t scoring tries for the Melbourne Storm, he is studying for his commerce degree. He feels it is important to understand how to best manage his money, to plan and achieve what he wants in life. In this clip, George meets Jodie Sizer, a qualified accountant and one of the founding owners of PwC’s Indigenous Consulting firm in Melbourne. They share experiences and discuss the importance of accounting in both life and in the community.

Accounting in the bush

Accounting is not always about numbers. In this clip Yasmine Gill, who works part time at PwC in Adelaide while studying for her commerce degree, explains how accounting is also about relationships and connecting into the world of your clients — helping them to do what they do better. Luke Carroll, Indigenous actor, says that he never imagined at high school how important financial knowledge would be to a successful career in acting.
